POSITION OBJECTIVE:


The Executive Vice-President of Corporate Services will be responsible for providing leadership, co-ordination, functional assistance and overall direction and guidance for the delivery of Corporate Services at the Hospital, encompassing the departments of Human Resources, Safety, Health Records, Quality, Privacy, Risk and Legal, Food Services and Housekeeping in compliance with hospital policy and all legislative and regulatory requirements.


In collaboration with members of the HDS management team, the incumbent will be responsible for leading activities of the hospital to maintain and improve operating performance, quality and productivity as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations and policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide functional assistance as well as strategic direction and leadership for corporate services, having overall reporting responsibility for the following areas: Human Resources, Employee Safety, Health Records, Quality & Risk Management, Accreditation, Privacy, Freedom of Information, Accreditation, Legal Affairs, Housekeeping, & Food Services.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Capital Expansion project, ensuring appropriate resourcing, communications with internal and external stakeholders and contacts, and that timelines are met.
  • Independent responsibility for research, writing and presentation of reports for the Hospital, senior management committee, the Board of Trustees and external contacts including quality improvement plans, reports and recommendations on financial and human resource issues, risk and liability assessments for the auditors and Board Audit Committee, etc.
  • Research, draft and ensure implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to optimize efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance within corporate functions.
  • Collaborate with Hospital team to develop and execute organizational strategies, goals, and initiatives.
  • Work closely with members of the Corporate Services team to brainstorm, strategize and identify problem resolution and process.
  • Contribute to Hospital financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Research and draft correspondence and communications to staff and external contacts including Ministry, Ontario Health, and others.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance operational performance, productivity, and quality across all corporate service areas.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community partners.
  • Understand contract law and the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act and Directives so as to develop and implement strategies to effectively manage contracts and negotiate changes/variations to contract agreements.
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills sufficient to maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, volunteers, trustees, politicians, government staff and other outside contacts.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in healthcare administration.

Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, human resources management or a related field; additional relevant certifications and/or designation an asset.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare or other relevant administration.
  • Exceptional research, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven strong working knowledge and experience with human resources, quality, risk and liability, and other areas falling within the Corporate Services portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare finance, including budgeting, reimbursement, and legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage complex projects, and achieve measurable results.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts effectively.
