Are you a passionate and detail-oriented individual with a knack for coordinating and managing events? Do you have a keen eye for organization, logistics, and a strong ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Provincial Project Coordinator for Events We are looking for a motivated, confident, and driven individual who is passionate about collaborating and working alongside Métis youth.


Reporting to the Manager of Provincial Youth Programs & Services, this role will assist with the development, coordination and implementation of Métis youth programs and services with the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA).

The Provincial events include but are not limited to, Alberta Métis Fest, Youth and Seniors Gathering, Cultural Youth Camps, Miyooayaan Wellness Summit, Youth Leadership Conference, and potential other projects and initiatives.

You will work closely with a dedicated team to ensure the success of each event, from planning and execution to post-event evaluation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of Métis specific program planning, development, and implementation.
  • Plan and facilitate logistics for all Provincial events under the Department of Youth Programs and Services.
  • Manage event registration, participant communications, and inquiries.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define event objectives, scope, and timelines for events.
  • Source and manage event venues, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Work closely with the Manager to develop detailed project plans for each event.
  • Oversee event logistics, including registration, catering vendors, transportation, accommodations, and audiovisual requirements.
  • Coordinate within house design and communications coordinator to promote events and drive attendance.
  • Work to increase program accessibility for Métis youth across the province.
  • Assist with project design and preparation of communication plan.
  • Some Supervision onsite event for staff and volunteers during event execution.
  • Ensure all aspects of events meet health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Conduct postevent evaluations and prepare reports for continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity.
  • Passion for working with youth.
  • Experience with event coordination and program development and implementation.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work individually and within a team setting.
  • Proficiency in event management software and tools.
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work in a diverse and fast paced environment.
  • Culturally sensitive and compassionate.
  • An indepth understanding of the Métis Nation of Alberta and Métis culture.
  • A proven track record of building collaborative partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including government, industry, service providers, and community.
  • Recognized strength in leading and engaging teams and creating a culture that promotes development of individual and organizational capacity.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree in related field.
  • Two years experience in events, program planning, development implementation and evaluation.
  • Previous experience in working with grants and grant writing is an asset.
  • Able to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation for traveling throughout the province is required for this position.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Clear Child Intervention Record Check required.
