Through its "Ignite Learning" campaign, the Durham District School Board (DDSB) has outlined its strategic priorities, which include Success, Well-Being, Leadership, Equity, Engagement and Innovation. This is an exciting opportunity for a contract Finance Analyst to contribute meaningfully to these priorities.

Leveraging your technical understanding of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) Regulations, you will ensure accountability of School Generated Funds (SGF) financial reporting and back-up for various PSAB Capital Asset tracking and reporting requirements.

This will include tracking and assigning asset categories to all minor Tangible Capital Asset purchases, preparing amortization and remaining service life schedules for the Board's Tangible Capital Assets, as well as calculating and allocating amortization expenses for the Board's financial statements.

As a Finance Analyst, you will carry out a wide variety of tasks, including supporting and auditing School Generated Funds bookkeeping, preparing SGF schedules and reports for the Ministry, managing year-end reports and schedules in a back-up capacity, and managing other projects as needs dictate.

Acting as a valued source of expertise, you will respond to questions from secretaries, Principals, parents, or school community councils, assist the Internal Auditor in correcting accounting procedure errors, prepare statistical information and reports for Senior Management and Trustees, and more.

SGF-related training will be a key aspect of this role - from providing training on software, procedures and best practices to Board staff and School administration staff, and preparing training documentation, to providing leadership in coordinating training schedules and materials, monitoring and updating Policies and Procedures, and keeping the School Cash web page up to date.

Qualifications
Your profile as a qualified
Finance Analyst will include:

Completion of a post-secondary university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
5 years of Progressive Accounting experience.
5 years' experience demonstrating a technical understanding of Public Sector Accounting Board Regulations.
5 years' experience demonstrating the ability to train others.
5 years of project leadership experience preferred.
Understanding of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards and reporting requirements.
Communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary Range:
$79,215 - $92,683 per annum
