Summary:
Responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers for events related to the 2023 House of PainT Festival
The Opportunity:
- Maintain an active presence engaging with HoP social media and cooperate with the Communications and Marketing Officer and Translator to develop and support development of content as needed to promote volunteerism at HoP
- Stay informed and tapped into where eager participants are seeking volunteer opportunities
- Coordinate and execute volunteer training sessions in advance of the festival
- Create and manage a secure volunteer database and volunteer schedule during the festival
- Support volunteer retention by developing and promoting a fun volunteer appreciation party, to be held in September
- Coordinate volunteer hospitality
- Present all programming plans and concepts to Executive Team and Programming Team
- Identify technical and infrastructure needs to support on site volunteers through set up, festival execution, and tear down
- Advocate for volunteer needs within the HoP team; support other HoP initiatives within reason, as needed
- Produce final report.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Excellent communication skills with strong organizational skills
- Previous experience in managing staff or volunteers; patience, compassion, and an appreciation for a diverse, harmonious work environment
- Strong understanding of political, social and historical context/importance of youth movements, arts & culture, and hip hop specifically
- Proficiency with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok) or willingness to learn
- Enthusiasm for communityengaged arts and culture; creative problemsolving skills
- Bilingualism or multilingualism is an asset.
ADDITIONAL QUALFICIATIONS REQUIRED:
Eligible to participate in Ontario's Job Creation Partnership (JCP) program by meeting the following criteria:
- An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week (part-time students and graduates may apply)
- Live in Ontario
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Have one, or both, of the following criteria:
a. Established an Employment Insurance (EI) benefit claim (regular or maternity/parental benefits ONLY)
b. Paid employee payroll premiums, i.e., employed in Canada, in five of any of the last ten years.
Remuneration:
$620 (gross) per week for 32 hours ($19.375 average per hour) provided by the Province of Ontario.
Salary:
$19.38 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
