Job Summary


The Resource Team Leader (RTL) for Hematology is responsible and accountable for the daily operations of the delegated section(s) of the Laboratory.

The Resource Team Leader is an integral member of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and works collaboratively with the Laboratory Manager, and the lab leadership team to ensure the efficient daily operation of the Core Laboratory Services (TM, Chem and Hem/Micro).

The Resource Team Leader promotes evidence-based practices, and provides technical expertise to staff, physicians and internal and external customers.

The Resource Team Leader participates in the implementation and maintenance of the Laboratory Quality Management System and is responsible for the section(s) specific technical requirements of the system.


Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • University Degree or Advanced Certification or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in Hematology, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated coaching and leadership abilities
  • Recent experience in implementation of laboratory automation and equipments
  • Solutionoriented approach with solid problem solving, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with the team and with internal and external customers
  • Ability to adapt well with varying demands of the job
  • Solid analytical, critical thinking and morphology assessment skills
  • Effective time management & organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and reprioritize with the demands of the job
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical procedures and training material
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Working knowledge of computers, in particular LIS systems, Word, MS Office, Excel, Visio
