Are you ready to take on an exciting role as our Operations Manager? We're a network of awesome hostels spread across Canada, and we need someone like you to oversee their management and growth.

As the right-hand person to our Director of Hostel Operations and Marketing, you'll be in charge of ensuring your assigned hostels are running smoothly.

You'll lead a team of talented hostel managers, providing them with guidance and support to create unforgettable guest experiences and keep things operating at their best.

We're looking for a superstar with leadership skills, a love for hospitality, and a proven track record in managing top-notch properties.

What you will be doing

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and motivate a team of hostel managers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure consistent performance and adherence to company policies and standards.
  • Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and encourage professional growth and development among hostel managers.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to improve individual and team performance.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the overall operations of assigned hostels in the network, ensuring compliance with brand standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to evaluate the financial and operational performance of each hostel and take appropriate actions to address any issues or areas of improvement.
  • Implement and maintain efficient operational processes, systems, and controls to optimize guest satisfaction, revenue generation, and expense management.
  • Collaborate with hostel managers and the marketing team to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to drive occupancy and revenue growth.

Guest Experience:

  • Maintain a strong focus on providing exceptional guest experiences by ensuring consistent service standards, cleanliness, and safety across all hostels within the network.
  • Ensure hostels address guest concerns and feedback promptly and take necessary actions to resolve issues and enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor online reviews and ratings of hostels within the network, and ensure corrective measures are implemented as needed to maintain positive guest perceptions.

Budgeting and Financial Management:

  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets for hostels in the network, in collaboration with hostel managers, to achieve revenue and expense targets.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and develop action plans to meet or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Monitor, track and provide reports on the progress of authorized capital budget projects.
  • Review financial reports, such as income statements and balance sheets, and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance and control costs.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain effective communication channels with hostel managers, senior management, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Participate in regular meetings, training programs, and industry events to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience as a Hostel Manager, Regional Manager or similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry or multisite operations.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the capability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of financial management and budgeting principles.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data, generating reports, and making datadriven decisions.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly to different hostel locations within the assigned region.

Salary/Wage:

80,000-90,000
