- Assist with internal audits determining objective and scope and financial control testing that includes assessing the design and operating effectiveness and raise identified issues to management for remediation.
- Perform internal control testing, evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and raise identified issues to management for remediation
- Ensure assigned testing is complete in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and guidelines; according to the schedule using data analytics and automation
- Produce high quality documentation on a timely basis for audit management and external auditors
- Identify opportunities to improve economy, efficiency and effectiveness of business processes
- Work on projects and conduct special investigations as required
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with Empire Life employees/management
- Attend and participate in continuing professional education classes and training courses
- Ensures compliance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
- Completion of college/university with specialization in audit, financial and managerial accounting or a combination of education and work experience
- 0-3+ years work experience in auditing or a related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications
- Knowledge of internal control techniques and internal audit procedures
- Knowledge of contract interpretation
- Knowledge of basic coding is an asset
- CPA and/or CIA designation or in progress is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, and ability to present information clearly to a diverse audience
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Empire life is looking to hire an Auditor to join our Audit Services team
Auditors conduct assessments of internal controls, risk assessments, reviews of risk areas, monitoring internal compliance, and assisting in moderately complex internal audits as part of the internal audit plan. Auditors are guided by defined goals and objectives and work under the moderate supervision of the Manager, Audit Services.
