The Chimo Youth Retreat Centre is a non-profit organization that has served children, youth and families in the Edmonton region for over 50 years.

Our great team provides a broad range of programs and services to youth between the ages of 13-18 that include securing housing, training in personal living skills, relationship skills, parenting support, education, and supports for independence Together with our community partners we assist young people on their road to successful independence.


We are currently seeking 2 qualified full time Transition-ROVER Worker positions for our Transition Home program. The Transition Rover will work to cover shifts where a staffing need exists in the TSIL Program (vacation coverage, shift coverage for staff who are ill, double staff as needed, etc. We are excited to offer an opportunity to learn and grow in the Child and Youth Care field. As a staff in this program, you will make great connections to our youth, receive thorough orientation and training, and be part of a supportive team

Transition Home Program:

The Chimo Youth Retreat Centre operates 5 Group Care Transitional SIL Homes; 4 co-ed homes and 1 home for pregnant or parenting teens.

The Transition Homes provide a safe and supportive environment to assist youth preparing to return home or transition into a semi-independent living setting.


  • Critical thinking and creative problem solving as a means of providing highquality services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent facilitation, organizational and time management skills
  • Working with contemporary practices, including but not limited to: Solution Focus Approaches, Trauma Informed Practice, Signs of Safety, Appreciative Inquiry
  • Possess knowledge of community resources that support our youth
  • Build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with families, CS staff and other stakeholders
  • Work effectively with all Chimo TSIL staff and leadership
  • Good written, computer and verbal communication skills
  • Contribute to the ongoing successful development of the Chimo TSIL Program

Education, Credentials and Requirements:


  • Applicants must have a 2year diploma or university degree in human services.
  • Experience working with youth in a residential setting is a definite asset.
  • A clear and current (within 6 months) Criminal Records Check and Children Services Intervention Record Check
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License, clean driving record and 3 years driving experience
  • Vehicle insurance with a minimum of $2 million liability and business use coverage
  • Training in First Aid, Suicide Intervention and Crisis Intervention
  • Proof of COVID19 vaccination (2 doses minimum)
  • This position requires shift work that includes evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Climb stairs repeatedly during the day
  • Help with household tasks, including regular housework (washing floors, cleaning washrooms, etc.)
  • Help with yard work (mowing lawns, raking leaves, shoveling snow)

Benefits & Holidays:


  • Staff qualify for the employee benefit package after 3 months of full time employment.

$45,917.00-$47,117.00 per year
