Duties:
Maintain, repair and/or arrange for repair of tools and equipment for the Carpentry Department. Order shop materials and meet with suppliers and manufacturers' representatives. Working with the program chair and instructors, organize and maintain shop materials and equipment.
Maintain proper safety standards and follow safe procedures for use and repair of tools and equipment as well as demonstrating and ensuring students follow safe use of tools and equipment.
Under the direction of the instructor, supervise work performed by students. Issue tools to students and instructors. May perform some or all of the duties listed above depending on the programs needs and demands.Required Qualifications:
Carpentry Certificate of Qualification (TQ) or Interprovincial (IP) and demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and repair of carpentry had and power tools and equipment.
- Some bookkeeping and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to successfully resolve conflict.
- Willingness to work as part of a team comprised of instructors, administrators and support staff.
- Demonstrated computer literacy.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work in and maintain a carpentry shop.
- Demonstrated supervisory and conflict resolution skills.
- Budget management courses.
