Job description

Summary of Position:


The receiver handles the receiving of items from the Shipping/Receiving dock and transports them to the backroom of stores on site.

They ensure that the shipments are inspected for quality, sorted by end location and stored where required.

They check invoices to make sure orders are correct, reporting all shortages or damages to the Purchasing Manager for credit.

Receivers will monitor shelves to restock as needed and place orders for both inventory and shipping supplies when the Purchasing Manager is on holidays.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Receive shipments, check for damages and sort stock for distribution into stores and storage areas.
  • Keep a record of invoices sent and received.
  • Fill orders by taking items from the warehouse and prepare them for delivery to stations.
  • Monitor shelves and fill them in when needed.
  • Keep up with the movement of merchandise in the store and warehouse.
  • Read planograms and set up store displays or rearrange merchandise according to them to maximize sales.

Cleanliness & Maintenance

  • Keep all areas clean and in proper working order.
  • Ensuring all kitchen daily and special checklists are completed to company standards.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and conducting maintenance inspections of kitchen and storage areas. Ensure all food production, handling and storage are to company standards and meet the requirements of all government departments.
  • Ensuring proper use, training and preventative maintenance of all kitchen equipment and facilities to prevent injury and unnecessary repairs.

Management

  • Attending weekly or daily management meetings.
  • Perform all other related duties, as assigned.

Workplace Health and Safety

  • Review Workplace Health and Safety manuals and SWP's (Safe Work Procedures)
  • Upon evacuation, account for employees at meeting point with daily staff working sheet.
  • Attending workplace health and safety meetings.
  • Maintain accurate MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • Hotel/restaurant experience preferred.
  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate Required

Required Skills, Experience:


  • Knowledge of safety standards and WHMIS

Technical Requirements:


  • Basic Computer Use. Word, excel, outlook.
  • Daily review of ordering systems reports

Working Conditions:


  • Lifting heavy cases of food product. lifts and carries supplies and equipment up to 75 lbs.
  • Pushing & pulling heavy carts loaded with stock.
  • Working in a hot environment.
  • Working with box cutters and knifes.

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
From $15.25 per hour


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
