    Assistant Controller

    The assistant controller is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all corporate accounting functions. Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results, responsibilities, and duties for both US and Canadian companies.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to all Tier 1 Energy Solutions (Tier 1) policies and procedures, furthermore understand and adhere to any client's policies and procedures;
  • Consolidated financial reporting (consol financials, scorecard)
  • Prepare bank reporting monthly + quarterly
  • Cash forecasts + bank reporting
  • Review Payroll
  • Treasury and Banking
  • Cash flow forecasting and working capital management
  • VISA Management – CAD
  • Coordinate with the Operational Controller on annual budgets + forecasting
  • Coordinate Annual Audit
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger
  • Staying relevant and compliant on accounting issues
  • Maintaining and improving internal controls
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the accounting team
  • Continuous improvement, involving process and technology advances
  • Other duties required as per the management team
  • Knowledge and Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian financial standards, IFRS, tax law and payroll regulations.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office products with a primary focus on Excel.
  • Exceptional knowledge of ERPs, with knowledge of SAP B1 considered an asset.
  • Exceptional flexibility with proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Stress management skills.
  • Complies with Federal, Provincial / State, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.

  • Must be able to work both independently with minimal supervision and as an integral part of a team.

  • Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Sitting behind a desk looking at a computer screen up to 8 hours in a day.
  • Frequent sitting, bending, twisting, and standing.
  • Education, Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • CPA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting leadership role, preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry or a similar background.
  • Qualifications:

  • Results from a background check must be deemed acceptable in accordance to Tier 1's guidelines.
