  • Responsible for analyzing new construction projects using industrystandard energy modeling software (e.g., CanQuest/eQuest, IES VE, HAP).
  • Responsible with the support of the Program Manager, effectively plan for longterm program development and stay up to date on market trends and technological developments.
  • Responsible for performing energy modeling simulations and model reviews on all project types (including complex/unique projects).
  • Responsible for having an indepth knowledge of the National Energy Cody for Buildings (NECB) Part 8 Standard and the National Energy Cody for Buildings (NECB) Part 8 Standard and how it applies to energy models.
  • Responsible for providing customers and partners with detailed technical guidance and feedback on all aspects of energy efficiency projects.
  • Responsible for providing technical expertise to internal clients where required. (e.g., analysis, technical reviews, evaluations).
  • Responsible for measuring and verifying energysaving measures after the project is executed.
  • As part of the larger custom team, assist with forecasting energy targets and incentives (based on current and past results).
  • Responsible for assisting with project agreement development and administration, ensuring compliance with established regulations.
  • Responsible for assisting with the followthrough on evaluator and verifier recommendations for the program.
  • Responsible for using the Customer Information System (CIS) to assess project status and develop program reports.
  • Responsible for assisting with training and onboarding for new staff.

What Will Help You Succeed?

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or diploma in engineering technology or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Eligible to practice as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum three years of related experience
  • Other relevant professional certifications, such as Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), LEED AP, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), etc. are considered assets.
  • Demonstrated experience using whole building energy modeling software (eQuest, HAP, and/or IES VE).
  • Experience in independently identifying, assessing, and solving complex technical issues related to building science principles and energy modeling would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

What to expect in your first several weeks on the job:

In the first week, expect to:

  • Work with the Program Manager and Project Technologist to learn standard program procedures.
  • Read program documents, including the Program Guide and eQuest project review guide.
  • Review examples of previous projects
  • Meet colleagues from other teams and departments to learn more about the organizations.

In the first month, expect to:

  • Begin to take on project reviews with support from the New Construction team.
  • Become familiar with and begin tracking New Construction projects in the Customer Information System.
  • Learn more about team and/or department initiatives.
  • Continue selfdirected and peer learning to develop knowledge of energy codes, energy modeling best practices, and energy efficiency measures in new construction projects.

In the first three months, expect to:

  • Manage new construction projects, including technical reviews of energy model submissions.
  • Participate in the program evaluation process.
