POSITION:
Communications Specialist


HOURS:
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, additional hours may be required on occasion


REPORTS TO:
Communications & Engagement Manager

Are you a great writer with a creative spirit and a strategic mindset? At WEOC, the Communications Specialist role is integral to the success of the team and its mission.


We are looking for someone who is:

  • A storyteller, who can produce written articles, social media campaigns, videos and podcasts.
  • A creative thinker and planner to support the creation and execution of live events, online webinars, engaging courses and innovative workshops.
  • A collaborator to help manage WEOC's website, social media channels, monthly newsletter, national advertising campaign and a robust online member library.

Our goal is to ensure that our members have the tools needed to support their clients by delivering?opportunities to network with peers across the country, access an innovative library of tools and resources, and participate in regular live and virtual cross-country events.

Through our national network of Loan Fund Partners, WEOC also delivers the National Loan Program for women entrepreneurs as they start, scale, grow and operate their businesses.


KEY ROLE

  • Plan, develop and write a wide variety of print and digital marketing materials, including articles and social media campaigns.
  • Assist with the development, planning and scheduling of live and virtual events.
  • Edit audio and video recordings.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans.
  • Maintain an accurate communications database.
  • Ensure the appropriate use and distribution of WEOC brand materials.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Postsecondary education in journalism, marketing, communications or other relevant discipline with proven, related experience.
  • Understanding of current and developing social media and digital marketing tools and trends.
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of WordPress, Photoshop, video and audio editing software an asset.
  • Written and oral French an asset.
  • Excellent organization and timemanagement skills.
  • Must be located in Canada and legally entitled to work here.
