About the Role

The Canada Council for the Arts is committed to fostering increased access to the arts across Canada.

As part of this commitment, the Council is undertaking initiatives to strengthen its presence and relationship in the North, as well as in Alberta.

In the North, the Council has established co-delivery partnerships with the Inuit Art Foundation, the Government of Northwest Territories and the Government of Yukon, to provide tailored support to communities in alignment with their specific needs and priorities.

The Alberta Focus Initiative has also been launched to establish an on-the ground presence in Alberta with the aim to strengthen engagement and collaboration with Alberta's vibrant arts community, as well as to deepen the Council's understanding of the community's unique realities.

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Research and Evaluation, the Student will:


Contribute to research and evaluation concerning the activities of the Canada Council and the arts in the North and in Alberta.

Contribute to projects in collaboration with staff across the organization related to research, impact measurement, evaluation and knowledge mobilization to better support communities across Canada.

Conduct analysis and report on the impact of co-delivery partnerships in the North as well as the Alberta Focus Initiative, drawing from survey and administrative data.

Conduct a scanning of research related to arts communities in the North and in Alberta.

Develop strategies to share information in a clear, succinct and engaging way with key audiences to communicate the impact of these initiatives as well as areas of improvement.

Requirements For The Position

Who is eligible to apply?

This program is intended for students.


To be considered, you must:
Currently be enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized post-secondary institution;
Be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in the next academic year (proof will be required)
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a student with a valid study permit (for international students);
Meet the basic requirements of the positions.

Duration

The duration of employment for the Summer Student Program is sixteen (16) weeks. Students will start work on May 11, 2026.

Education

The student should be enrolled in one of the following:

A Master's or PhD program in a social science, humanities, or health‑related discipline.

Skills & Competencies

Quantitative, qualitative and mix-methods research knowledge and experience
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to collaborate effectively with others

Bilingual Requirements

This position requires the use of both official languages.

The requirements in the second official language are:
An intermediate level in oral (B)
An intermediate level in reading comprehension (B)
An intermediate level in writing. (B)
