Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
Located in the Algoma district of Ontario and established in 1955, the City of Elliot Lake is a community of
about 11,500 that combines the hospitality of a small town with the services of a larger, urban setting. The
majestic wilderness and thousands of lakes that surround the area provide residents and visitors with
many opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, golf, skiing and snowmobiling.

Elliot lake is seeking an innovative leader with great people skills who is able to collaborate, make decisions,
current technologies relating to municipal government and open to new technology as well as having a solid
background in municipal government, along with business and political acumen and a passion for the
community.


Specific Requirements:


  • University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related area (e.g., Management,
Finance), or a combination of education and extensive directly related management experience in a senior
administrative position at the municipal level or private sector equivalent.

  • Demonstrated trust in establishing transparent, relationships with Council, Staff, Stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to provide leadership to the City of Elliot Lake by supporting, empowering, and inspiring the senior

- management team.
  • Excellent listening skills and outstanding written and verbal communication skills to act as a spokesperson on
- behalf of the administration. Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.
  • Works collaboratively with the Mayor and Council to build our community and effectively represent the
interests of the City of Elliot Lake by facilitating the implementation of the strategic plan into the annual
corporate and business plan.

  • Consistently seeks opportunities to advance and maintain relationships between Elliot Lake and neighbouring
communities, stakeholders, and regional partners.

  • A minimum of seven years related demonstrated senior level management experience in business / public
sector administration in a unionized work environment.


Compensation
The job rate for this position is: $148,122 - $176,335; commensurate with education and experience in the
municipal field. In addition, the City of Elliot Lake offers a full employee benefits program.
