THE ROLE

Under the direction of the Director Corporate Services, the National Manager, Access to Information and Privacy Program plans, develops, implements, manages and evaluates the organization's ATIP programs.

They lead the development of a strategic ATIP framework ensuring that access to information and privacy are considered throughout the various phases of the design or redesign of Non Public Property (NPP) programs, systems and/or initiatives.

They act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding ATIP matters and provides advice regarding current and emerging ATIP legislation, regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures, practices and jurisprudence.

They monitor, analyze and determine ATIP requirements, including those outlined in Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) ATIP policies, and make recommendations to Senior Management to ensure compliance.


QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licenses**College diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field AND several years of managerial experience in access to information and privacy programs or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience

Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada or equivalent certification, an asset


Experience
In developing, managing and evaluating Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) programs

In analyzing data and preparing recommendations compliant with the intent and principles of ATIP legislation

In providing advice on the resolution of ATIP issues

In conducting Private Impact Assessments (PIAs)

In formulating advice that meets legislative and operational requirements

In presenting and defending the interests and positions of an organization at meetings and forums

In preparing discussion papers, briefing notes, position papers, summaries, options and briefings on ATIP matters

In providing advice on the collection, protection, disclosure, use and retention of personal, protected, classified and sensitive information

This position has an assigned location and may allow flexible work options such as remote or hybrid work but the employee must be able to report to the assigned work location at their own cost if required.
