- The role must be available to work a 40-hour week with occasional overtime
- College Diploma (DEC) in Marine Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Marine Engineer 2nd Class certificate issued by Transport Canada
- Valid Transport Canada medical examination certificate
- Cognitive, problem-solving, teamwork and technical skills
