Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Ghost VFX & Head of Canada, the HR Generalist, Talent Engagement will support Streamland Media's employee engagement initiatives and the employee experience at Streamland's business locations in Vancouver and Toronto.

With the ability to make a direct impact on our Canadian workplaces and staff, this role will contribute to the development and implementation of the HR policies, programs, employee experience, equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives, day-to-day administration of the human resource function and other duties tied to supporting a highly engaged culture.

Streamland Media has a hybrid workplace culture which supports employees to work from home, as well as the Streamland Toronto office located in Downtown, Toronto, ON.


Essential Functions:


  • Acts as a strong business partner by offering support, solutions, and risks. Manages daytoday manager and employee inquiries for dedicated Business Units.
  • Promotes a culture of diversity, inclusion, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Promotes and informs on health, wellness and safety initiatives.
  • Supports the creation and execution of employee development opportunities and programs.
  • Partners with Benefits team to administer leaves and accommodations.
  • Maintains, updates and communicates human resource approach and polices to management and employees.
  • Leads the onboarding and offboarding programs and manages employee data in ADP, and conducts weekly new hire orientations as exit meetings as needed.
  • Works with payroll to administer HRrelated changes; as such, tracks and sends changes to Payroll Team.
  • Supports and assists in employee and workplace data tracking, creation of data analytics, and reporting.
  • Partners with talent acquisition team and hiring manager to fill open positions.
  • Handles firstlevel employee relations issues including conflict resolution and performance issues and daytoday staff questions, and supports behaviorbased warnings, workplace investigations, workplace discipline, and employee terminations.
  • Conducts and documents employee exit interviews for voluntary terminations. Analyzes and reports turnover data and offers solutions to employee feedback.
  • Assists with planning Company events and morale boosters including holiday parties, wellness initiatives, and other events throughout the year.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring applicable human resource local, state and federal requirements including legal postings.
  • Handles miscellaneous HR related tasks as needed including but not limited to admin reports and ad hoc projects.
  • Other duties as required.
  • 5 years of professional experience in Human Resources, preferable in a generalist capacity.
  • Explicit knowledge of the principles and practices of the Human Resources function.
  • Strong problem solving and multitasking skills in a fastpaced work environment.
  • Exceptional abilities to demonstrate sound judgment under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability and desire to learn new software and tools, and seek out new opportunities to use technology to advance the HR department's function and impact.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring applicable human resource local, provincial, and federal requirements including legal postings.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is highly desired.
  • Detailoriented and creative work ethic.
  • Ability to work with employees of all levels.
  • Basic understanding of payroll practices.
  • Position requires professional responsibility and the highest degree of discretion.
