    High School Tech Immersion Program Coordinator – St. Johns, NL

    On behalf of our client, techNL – Jump Recruitment Specialists is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Coordinator, High School Tech Immersion Program. This is a full-time contract position located in St. John's and expiring March 31st, 2027.

    The High School Tech Immersion Program offers learning and paid work opportunities for students in grades The program is comprehensive in its design to introduce students to local companies working in tech and innovation, expose students to career pathways in technology, and enhance digital skillsets and business acumen. The program has been vastly successful, engaging more than 90 students over three years, with plans to further grow the program in the coming years.

    We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual for the role of Coordinator for the High School Tech Immersion Program. Working with the Program Manager, the Coordinator will lead student-focused components of the program to ensure the program meets its outcomes. The Coordinator will play a critical role in student application and selection, coordination of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Leads, facilitating student training schedules, planning events and workshops at the Makerspace, and acting as a point of contact for student engagement.

    Duties:

    • Provide application support to student applicants, review and assess student applications based on program objectives, and coordinate work placements.
    • Collaborate with Work Integrated Learning Leads to design student workplans.
    • Manage scheduling and communication with training providers, communicate with student cohort and WIL leads regularly to provide support and assistance.
    • Plan and coordinate events for the student cohort to gather, network, and learn about the tech sector.
    • Plan project based learning events for additional student participants.
    • Ideate, plan, and facilitate Makerspace workshops and training using technology like 3D printers, video/audio tools, virtual/augmented reality equipment, Computer Aided Design software, electronics, etc.
    • Assist with program evaluation, reporting, and future planning.
    • Support other components of the High School Talent strategy.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Training-Certificate or Diploma in a technological field of study or equivalent experience.
    • Candidates will demonstrate a combination of education and work experience that demonstrates the candidate's abilities to execute the following tasks:
    • Coordination of events including training activities,
    • Coordinating the acquisition of resources and materials for events,
    • Scheduling and planning of events or activities
    • Candidates should also have experience working with high school-aged learners, providing mentorship and coaching.
    • Experience using technology such as 3D printers, video/audio tools, virtual/augmented equipment, Computer Aided Design software, electronics, etc. and demonstrated ability to teach/lead others.
    • Experience with troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
    • Candidates will also demonstrate abilities to communicate with various stakeholders with different needs, such as students, parents, vendors and techNL.
    • Experience in evaluating and/or ranking resumes/candidates would be an asset.
    • Familiar with tools such as Microsoft programs, Canva, Hubspot and WordPress.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and adhere to deadlines.
    • Detail oriented and experience managing competing priorities.
    • Strong interest in youth career development and a demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or a passion for the NL tech sector is an asset.
