Detailed Overview:

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health:

Reporting to the Director, Surgical Services and Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR), the Coordinator, Quality Assurance & Quality Improvement provides leadership and quality improvement expertise in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives designed to improve MDR's quality of service, service utilization, safety, and risk reduction.


Provides consultation, guidance, and support to the department in the use of tools to measure, monitor, and evaluate initiatives designed to improve patient care outcomes;provides facilitation, coaching, and support to the department in development, monitoring, and analysis of key performance indicators including assisting site staff in completing, scheduling and tracking of MDR and Endoscopy assessments.


Evaluates the effectiveness of MDR's current processes as they relate to patient safety, complaints management, and incident reporting and makes recommendations based on evaluation of impact on quality, safety, and risk.

identifies staff learning needs related to the integration of quality improvement methodology and evidence-based systems and tools with everyday work processes; conducts in service and new equipment training/education resource development for new equipment; ensures follow up of maintenance training and tracking.

Performs a leadership role in MDR's participation in the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA) accreditation, Ministry of Health-mandated reprocessing reviews, and other quality initiatives; participates in the development of MDR policies, goals, and objectives.


Responsibilities:


  • In collaboration with the Medical Device Reprocessing leadership team, provides leadership and quality improvement expertise to all levels of the department in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives designed to improve quality of service, service utilization, safety, and risk reduction. Working under the direction of the MDR Director, ensures an integrated approach to quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provides consultation, guidance, and support to the department in the use of tools and mechanisms to measure, monitor, and evaluate initiatives designed to improve patient care outcomes.
  • Provides facilitation, coaching, and support to the department in development, monitoring, and analysis of key performance indicators including assisting site staff in completing, scheduling and tracking of MDR and Endoscopy assessments.
  • Provides expert support for analysis of multiple sources of key performance data to promote a balanced approach to identifying and acting on improvement opportunities.
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of safety and risk indicators, and other risk prevention strategies.
