Reporting to the Controller, the Manager - Financial Reporting is responsible for preparing, collecting, reviewing, and interpreting financial data that both explains the results of company operations and provides forward looking information that will help to shape future business decisions.

The Manager - Financial Reporting works closely with the Controller to prepare and issue reporting to senior management, corporate office, and other stakeholders while also playing a key role in maintaining the integrity of internal controls surrounding the operating systems of the organization.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules on a monthly basis and issue results, in a timely manner, to internal management and corporate office.
  • Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, deliverable to senior management and/or corporate office, encompassing various operational and taxation related topics.
  • Maintain an indepth working knowledge of the current ERP system as well as play an active role in any development, upgrade, or conversion to a new ERP environment.
  • Work in tandem with the Controller to review, maintain, and update the internal control documentation for the company on an annual basis.
  • Supervise and mentor the Accounting Supervisor position, as well as a support position, both of which report directly to the Manager
  • Financial Reporting.
  • Work closely with the Controller to manage the annual budget preparation process, including direct preparation of key sections of budget information, liaising with internal departments to collect budget inputs, and guide/mentor other accounting staff as they prepare assigned sections of budget detail.
  • Participate in the quarterly forecasting of financial statements results to end of the current fiscal year plus the threeyear strategic plan projections at the midpoint of each fiscal year.
  • Manage the fixed asset database subsystem, participate in the project authorization request process, and be a key member of the Capital Expenditures Committee.
  • Work in conjunction with the Manager
  • Accounting Analysis to maintain the various components of the standard costing system and reporting thereon.
  • Work closely with the subbusiness unit located in Queretaro, Mexico to manage the overall finance related aspects of the operation including tasks such as:
  • Monthly review and analysis of financial statements
  • Business segment analysis (financial statement segregation into operating segments)
  • Annual budget preparation
  • Product costing (standard cost development)
  • Work center rate updating (driver of standard costs)
  • Product speed and scrap rate updating (driver of standard costs)
  • Maintaining internal control documentation along with periodic testing of controls
  • Prepare journal entries and general ledger account analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with gross margin reporting and the related analysis of sales results.
  • Participate in annual internal and external audits for the division and maintain the ability to interact with relevant auditors as required.
  • Maintain the certificate of insurance database, work with Marketing staff to fulfill customer requests for certificates of insurance, and liaise with the Corporate office regarding insurance policies.
  • Participate in special departmental projects as assigned by either the Controller or Director of Finance and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company. Interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak's TQI program.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Chartered Professional Accounts Designation
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an accounting and finance environment with preference given to experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with direct supervision of staff would be considered an asset.
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts would be considered an asset.
  • Experience writing internal control documentation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with integrated accounting systems (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
  • Able to work efficiently within a complex ERP system.
  • Able to learn and adapt quickly to new software.
  • Ability to function fluently in Microsoft Excel skillset between moderate and expert levels.
  • Able to deal with all levels of an organization.
  • Able to work under mínimal supervision and within tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
  • Other combinations of education, experience, knowledge, and skills will be considered.

Experience:
Preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an accounting and finance environment with preference given to experience in a manufacturing environment.
