The Position:


THP is undertaking the modernization of its business systems, specifically its human resources, payroll and staff scheduling systems, over the next two years.

A project team has been established to oversee the planning and implementation of this project and it will be working with external partners and vendors throughout this process.


Here's what you will get to do:

  • Act as the primary resource for the Director, Payroll and Financial Reporting on workstream deliverables and activities
  • Act as the resource for the Payroll Working Group, chaired by the Director, Payroll and Financial Reporting
  • Support the development of a workstream specific workplan and maintain and update it as required
  • Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for THP's workflows
  • Support the ongoing development and optimization of the payroll system
  • Establish a resource library of materials (including workflows, reports, decisions, risks and issues logs) for the workstream
  • Develop materials for presentations, meetings, engagement sessions and working sessions
  • Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for THP's workflows

  • Participate in working sessions and discussions pertaining to payroll
  • Establish relationships with other project analysts and resources on the project to ensure appropriate information sharing and standardization across workstreams
  • Establish relationships with operational resources who will contribute to information gathering and future state design for payroll
  • Participate in workflow design, build, and testing and analyze technical issues associated with the payroll solutions
  • Learn current state and future state workflows and create / update workflow documentation for the Payroll & Financial Reporting workstream
  • Attend meetings with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end user concerns, and upcoming milestones
  • Identify issues that arise in the workstream as well as issues that impact other system teams and work to resolve them
  • Analyze business operations as they relate to build decisions
  • Analyze, review, and test system functionality
  • Attend workshops with other project resources and assist with refining user stories for various system modules
  • Create functional design specifications for development objects (e.g. Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Fast Formula) and unit testing of the development objects
  • Support completion of configuration workbooks and configuration of system/ testing during sprint cycles
  • Support preparations for training and ensure alignment between business decisions and system functionality is appropriately documented
  • Test the solution as part of the sprint cycles and integration testing cycles
  • Achieve certification in the vendor's system (if required)
  • Ability to participate in an oncall rotation and to work odd or extended hours as required

Here's what you need to have:

  • Successful completion of either a University Degree or College Diploma in a Science, Finncee, Business, or a Health-related discipline
  • Hospital clinical, patient access, or project management experience an asset
  • 1 to 3 years of experience with payroll solutions and/or experience with payroll and / or finance for a large organization an asset
  • Excellent computer skills, with MS Office and/or Outlook
  • Experience working on a project team responsible for a major information system implementation an asset
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when performing a wide variety of tasks
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • The ability and willingness to learn new software and systems
  • Demonstrated flexibility with respect to changing end user needs
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare reports, presentations and other project documentation
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams
  • Confidence in engaging a wi
