In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $69,386 - $115,642.

Position summary


This position requires an excellent working knowledge of all aspects of F&O services in order to effectively and efficiently relay information between departmental and internal stakeholders, and will be required to utilize data analytics and network contacts to ensure the appropriate level of custodial, pest control, environmental services, and other Operations and Maintenance responses for day-to-day campus operations, as well as issue resolution of operations and maintenance matters.

Clear, concise and ongoing verbal and written communications with all stakeholders is critical to the success of the incumbent in this position.


The incumbent will update the Director, Facility Services, AVPAsset Management & Operations, and other senior members of F&O to ensure that the services provided meet the needs of the stakeholders and align with the University's Mission, Vision, Values and Comprehensive Institutional Plan, as well as the unit Mission, Vision, Values and Behaviors.

These services include establishing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, general maintenance, custodial, quality assurance (QA), pest control, and environmental / recycling services for four University campuses.


The Manager, Facility Services Operations directly oversees the Environmental Services coordinator position and associated portfolio (1 employee), as well as the Quality Assurance division of Facility Services (total of 5 QA inspectors / Supervisors) which monitors the quality and consistency of custodial services provided on University campuses.


Duties

  • Evaluates current processes for efficiency. Identifies operational challenges. Recommends changes
  • Allocates assigned resources effectively. Analyzes area resource requirements and formulates plans to request additional resources where necessary.
  • Takes action to avoid imminent problems or to capitalize on upcoming opportunities.
  • Identifies, acquires, manages and supports collective and individual talent for Environmental Services and Quality Assurance teams. Proactively identifies and plans for future talent needs.
  • Provides senior professional level expertise and strategic counsel on facilities issues and needs, including interpretation of University policies and procedures
  • Develops options, plans, recommendations, implementation plans for and evaluation of facility / building operational solutions
  • Works closely with the Facility Services / F&O team to develop cost estimates for new activities or changes to programs or services.
  • Provides recommendations to the Director, Facility Services for potential changes to reporting, processes or procedures.
  • Negotiates contract terms for custodial, pest management, and waste diversion services (approx. $12 M annually).
  • Effectively manages and operationalizes contracts to ensure provision of services in line with departmental objectives and standards, and actively seeks efficiencies and cost savings based on real time conditions and experiences.
  • The Manager has accountability for the financial performance of this unit. They must ensure that revenue targets are met and expenses remain in line with the budget.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or related technical designation
  • Minimum 5 Years of direct / related experience in Facilities Management
