Why is this role important?

  • The Program Lead is responsible for the development, implementation and enhancements of the operations of the Data Access Support Hub (DASH) for Health Data Research Network (HDRN) Canada. Under CIHI's leadership, DASH, a coordination team composed of representatives from provincial/territorial data centers and panCanadian data organizations, makes jurisdictional data access processes transparent to researchers conducting multijurisdictional research across Canada, and provides coordinated support to researchers through the various stages of the data access process.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Provides leadership and guidance to staff. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload and performance of staff to ensure that quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided. Conducts annual performance management reviews.
  • 2. Leads DASH operational activities, including the DASH request intake process and client support (reviews request intake from; clarifies clients' data needs; provides information on data availability; liaises with provincial/territorial data centers, etc.)
  • 3. Leads DASH reporting activities (prepares performance reports for CIHI, University of British Columbia (lead organization for the HDRN Canada), the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (funder for HDRN Canada) and other stakeholder groups as required).
  • 4. Leads development of DASH website content, and enhancements activities for the DASH web portal and tools (documentation, specification development, testing).
  • 5. Leads development and monitoring of DASH program plans and deliverables, work plans and budgets, and communication/ dissemination plans where applicable. Establishes timelines and milestones, identifies resources requirements and potential risks, and regularly monitoring the overall progress of the DASH program. Ensures that all aspects of the DASH program are in line with corporate policies and adhere to internal processes.
  • 6. Prepares briefing materials to provide status updates to Senior Management at CIHI and HDRN Canada Executive team to ensure DASH timelines and deliverables are on track.
  • 7. Oversees logístical aspects related to the DASH program, including, organizing and/or facilitating meetings (internal and external), drafting and developing pertinent documentation, and obtaining required approvals.
  • 8. Liaises with stakeholders to identify ongoing and emerging DASH program requirements and priorities. Provides expertise and leadership for initiatives to strengthen capabilities and processes related to data access.
  • 9. Promotes DASH services through conference attendance, as well as delivering webinars and presentations both virtually and inperson.
  • 10. Performs additional responsibilities to support HDRN Canada, as required.
  • What you'll bring to the table
  • Master's degree in Health Information, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Social Sciences or other related disciplines, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Five years of relevant work experience with a strong record of managing and meeting timelines and deliverables for significant projects and staff management.
  • Good understanding of health data and health service research methods.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills, with a focus on stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Excellent program and people management skills.
  • Ability to comprehend quantitative analytical documents and communicate findings accordingly.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian health care system.
