Junior Computational Biologist
We have a position open for a remote, full-time Junior Computational Biologist. Tasks will include data manipulation and plotting, literature review, assistance with reporting and support of more senior Computational Biologists. The position includes flexible working hours, an office allowance, and a Private Health Services Plan.

Experience/ training in biology, ecology, statistics, mathematics and/or computer science is required. Candidate must be a permanent resident of Canada or Costa Rica.


Salary Range:
$44,318 - $46,000


Responsibilities:
As a Junior Computational Biologist with Poisson Consulting, some specific duties may include:

Write R scripts to clean, tidy and visualize data.
Conduct literature reviews and produce summary reports.
Assist in the preparation of internally reviewed technical reports.
Develop databases to store current and historical data.
Provide general support to more senior Computational Biologists
Perform other related work as needed.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Masters Degree in a Natural Science or equivalent experience and Undergraduate Degree.
At least one peer-reviewed publication or significant report as first author.
Eligible to become Registered Professional Biologist or Biologist in Training with the College of Applied Biology.
Computational and analytical skills, including proficiency with R.
Excellent communication, advanced English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Excellent presentational skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail in coding practices.
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
