Covanta Durham York Renewable Energy Limited Partnership ("Covanta") is currently seeking a VP, Commercial Governance and Sales Excellence.

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, this strategic role will be responsible for leading Covanta's Commercial Governance and Sales Excellence at a corporate level, developing and implementing sales strategies, monitoring sales performance, ensuring compliance with corporate governance policies and regulations, and leading a team of professionals.

This role partners with region leadership, regional commercial leaders, and cross functional teams to align on strategy and execution.


Main Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies: Lead the development and implementation of effective sales strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Monitor sales performance: Analyze sales performance data, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to address any issues.
  • Establish and institute commercial governance guidelines and ensure compliance with governance policies and regulations: Ensure compliance with corporate governance policies and regulations, including sales processes, pricing, and documentation.
  • Lead sales excellence initiatives: Develop and implement sales excellence initiatives to improve sales performance and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Build and lead a highperforming team: Recruit, develop, and manage a team of professionals to execute sales strategies and ensure compliance with corporate governance policies and regulations.
  • Evaluate adoption of a bestinclass CRM and customer portal that is aligned with a contemporary commercial function
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams: Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including marketing, finance, and legal, to ensure alignment and consistency in sales and governance processes.
  • Develop and maintain salesrelated documentation: Develop and maintain salesrelated documentation, including sales contracts, proposals, and sales reports.
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on sales operations and governance issues.
  • Develop strategic and tactical strategies for contract negotiations with a focus on achieving winwin outcome for both the company and the customer
  • Define targeted market penetration areas that match with priority value propositions of the company.
  • Establish an empowered deal hub to enable contract underwriting and reduce proposal cycle times
  • Redefine existing commercial processes to align with new regional structure with a focus on speed and compliance
  • Talent Management: Attracts and develops key talent, Performance Management and Succession Planning for commercial talent.
  • Professional Development: Provide guidance on the professional development of the SME's within the region/sites

Education:
At minimum, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business or Science plus a Master's Degree in Business Administration.


Experience:


  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in industrials or power generation industry in management and technical roles.
  • Must have experience in contract negotiations, understanding of legal terms and conditions and strong financial acumen.
  • Prior experience working in and around power generating plants or large industrial facilities and systems including boilers and combustion, steam generation and distribution, turbine generators, and balance of plant systems
  • Prior experience in establishing a commercial center of excellence for an industrial company with multiple product lines to drive commercial governance and growth
  • Strong understanding and prior experience in the design and implementation of CRM tool for large industrial company and proficient in the use of CRM tool
  • Prior experience in driving commercial simplification and standardization to drive process efficiency
