About the Lycée Français de Toronto

The Lycée Français de Toronto is an educational institution with 520 students of 30 nationalities, from preschool to high school (Pre K-Gr 12), offering a French Ministry of Education curriculum up to the French Baccalaureate, with an American international option. It is part of a network of more than 520 French schools around the world affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad. Job Description


This position reports directly to the Head of School.

The nature of the role places the successful candidate in regular contact with the entire school community. The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the operating principles of a French educational institution while also complying with Ontario regulations.

The school is accredited at all grade levels and prepares students for the French Baccalauréat.

Key Responsibilities


This role is carried out within the framework of the French Ministry of Education curriculum and includes the following responsibilities:

  • Teach at the middle school (collège) and/or high school (lycée) level
  • Plan and deliver instruction in Biology (SVT) according to the assigned teaching load
  • Address the diverse needs of students and support different learning processes
  • Act as a responsible educator and uphold strong ethical standards
  • Integrate the thoughtful and appropriate use of digital technology in teaching
  • Collaborate with colleagues and actively contribute to the school community
  • Assess and monitor student progress and achievement

Candidate Profile


Education and Experience

  • CAPES certification in the relevant subject area, a Master's degree (Master II), or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in a school or community setting, preferably in a bilingual environment
  • Knowledge of educational technologies (ICT in education)
  • Flexibility, creativity, initiative, autonomy, and enthusiasm
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Strong command of French and English, both written and spoken

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment and interact with diverse groups
  • Ability to represent the school in a positive and professional manner consistent with its values
  • Awareness of accessibility and inclusion principles
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural and bilingual environment

Working Conditions

  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including the equivalent of 18 in-class teaching hours
  • Permanent position
  • Dynamic school environment with an open workspace
  • Unionized position governed by the collective agreement of the Lycée Français de Toronto
  • Salary based on experience and classification (certified / non-certified)
