WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?


The
Electrical Supervisor will supervise and coordinate activities of Electricians and Contractors in the areas of safety, construction, maintenance, and repair of high, medium, and low voltage power systems, machine controls, process controls, drives, distributed control systems, lighting, PLC and advanced control systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Coordinate the activities of the Electrical and contractors with the other coordinators and departments.
  • Inspect hardware and software for conformance to company specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Suggests and initiates changes in working conditions, use of equipment and provides resources to increase efficiency for shop, department, and work crew while motivating workers to achieve their goals.
  • Analyze, mediates, and resolves work problems, and negotiates with union personnel and other parties to resolve grievances and assists employees in resolving problems.
  • Maintain records relating to safety, time, production, maintenance, and drawings.
  • Support emergencies after regular working hours.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise employees in the Electrical Maintenance department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; designing, estimating, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assist in the development of department budget, goals, KPI's and assumes the responsibilities of the department Manager, as required. Create and interpret specifications, blueprints, work orders, work procedures, and pm's for employees.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

  • Education
  • Threeyear college or technical school; (Electrical)
  • Experience 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge (technical/practical/managerial)
  • At least 1 year team experience in supervision
  • Knowledge of mining, cement manufacturing and blasting training/experience
  • Heavy industry experience
  • Cement Manufacturing processes such as mining, milling, kiln operation, process control, and predictive maintenance are desirable.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental legislative/regulatory requirements
  • Audit compliance ISO
  • Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code and Z462 electrical safety standards
Skills
-
Language skill: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning skill: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer skill: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP, Ariba, Chronos,PI, and Autocad Manufacturing software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. As well as programming skills in AB PLC, Advanced AB PLC Programming, Foxboro and specialized machine controls.
