Position Purpose:


Overall duty of this position is to develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans for both existing and new business lines across Canada.

The Business Development Manager works closely with Regional and Operations Managers to achieve revenue targets and assists with other non-financial metrics such as customer satisfaction (internal and external), accounts receivable, quality, safety and employee development.


Business lines of focus are related to Infrastructure, Road Management, Light Rail Transit, Geotechnical Instrumentation & Monitoring as well as Inspection & Supervision support.


The Business Development Manager identifies the needs of clients, deals with issues proactively and provides solutions, while ensuring superior customer service and professional corporate representation at all times.


Due to the nature of this position there will be some on-call and overtime requirements as well as some extensive business travel.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination of all business development activities in all regions across Canada to maximize revenue and profit opportunity, while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, company reputation, employee satisfaction, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies and execution plans for assigned business lines or regions.
  • Develop and actively maintain relationships with key industry contacts, including current and potential clients, respected industry experts, and current and potential employees.
  • Ensure two points of contact are maintained with key clients at all times.
  • Conduct research into and analysis of standard business development elements such as competition (services, pricing, failures, etc.), technological developments, market trends, and economic conditions to identify business risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in the coordination of the completion of internal PAPs, and external RFIs, RFPs, and bid documents to ensure timely, accurate and highquality submissions.
  • Ensure contract documents are reviewed and approved by necessary company and legal experts prior to execution.
  • Assist in maintaining effective communications between business development, support services and operations teams.
  • Collaborate with operations and finance teams to develop national and regional pricing strategies.
  • Coordinate representation of Applus in external Industry groups, such as code committees and conferences.
  • Assist regional and divisional management in developing annual business plans, as well as with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Interface with global business development representatives to identify crossregional opportunities and strategies.
  • Adherers to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Applus Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
