Maternity leave coverage with possible extension.
- Provide support, education and resources to Estimators, Project Managers, Supervisors, and Foremen, on Health and Safety topics.
- Guide Forepersons through FLHA's & Toolbox Safety talks.
- Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the HS&E programs, in the office and the field.
- Coordinate Employee orientations and training.
- Train workers for WHMIS 2015 products used in our industries, end user fall protection/equipment inspections, fit testing use, maintenance, and compliance.
- Arrange for any 3rd party training that is required for work onsite(s)
- Boom/scissor lifts, Telehandlers, confined space.
- Scheduling of Foreman's training through BCCSA, WorkSafeBC, St. John's Ambulance.
- Responsible for overseeing the Health and Safety program for Power Civil Contractors, Power Shotcrete Structures, RainCity Rock and Waterscapes, and Haven Electric.
- Respond to incidents and perform incident investigations, guide supervision through less critical incidents.
- Maintain SiteMax safety management software. Create jobs, assign crews, and update user information and records.
- Management Subcontractor review of training records.
- Working with clients on site staff and CSO's in maintaining compliance on all jobsites for Power Shotcrete Group crews.
- Development of Job Hazard assessments, Site Specific Job Procedures, Exposure Control Plans and Confined Space documentation when required by the general contractors or the legislation.
- Monitoring of crew safety performance through site inspections, identifying and resolving issues from inspections through corrective actions.
- Participate in crew toolbox talks/stand down meetings as required.
- Participate in investigations as required and issue corrective actions based on findings of root causes.
- Review of documentation submitted through SiteMax and assist forepersons with SiteMax if requested.
- Maintaining COR certification to protect the reputation and good standing of the company.
- Issuing and tracking of all PPE, both consumption and purchasing.
Company vehicles/Specialty Equipment:
- Tracking of all vehicles and equipment requiring semi and or annual safety inspections.
- Ensure all specialty equipment that requires engineering certification or annual recertification are scheduled for inspections and certifications are up to date. (Lifting cables, chains, slings).
Qualifications and Skills:
- Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, Diploma or Degree
- Thorough understanding of current WorkSafeBC legislations, OH&S Regulations and the Workers Compensation Act
- 510 years relevant experience in commercial/industrial concrete, excavation/shoring, drilling or ground stabilization works.
- Thorough understanding of PPE and safety equipment use and maintenance
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Critical thinking and sound judgement in all situations
- Excellent task prioritization
- Competent computer and digital skills (Mobile & Desktop web browsers, iOS and Windows operating systems)
Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 20 months

$25.00 per hour
