The
LIT (Leader in Training) Leader is a hybrid role.

This position will serve the first two months (May & June) as a Support Leader leading a team of Support Workers.

This includes supporting, coaching and evaluating assigned Support Workers, and the ability to oversee and assist with camper care, ensuring campers have the opportunity to fully engage in the camp experience.

During the last two months (July & August) as an LIT Leader for the LIT Workers.

This includes supporting, coaching and evaluating assigned LIT Workers as they provide support in three areas of camp as needed (program, maintenance, food services).

When working in these areas the LIT Leader would follow the direction of the Program, Facility Food Services Leaders.

Duties include:

Lead an LIT team to assist where needed in the kitchen, maintenance, and program areas of camp.
Maintenance includes custodial, groundskeeping, and miscellaneous small repairs and projects
Kitchen includes working the dishwasher, food prep and serving
Program includes assisting Program workers with delivery of the camp program
Source or develop in conjunction with the Camp Manager a Leadership Development program that is then facilitated as part of the LIT's daily schedule
Complete and maintain assessments, reports and documentation as required
Facilitate checkin meetings with the LIT Workers and record meeting goals and outcomes
Promote the health and wellbeing of LIT Workers by ensuring assigned breaks are being taken
Maintain confidentially regarding staff issues and camper personal information
Knowledge of and assistance in ensuring that all safety plans, emergency procedures and protocols are maintained at all times
Attend and actively participate in all staff training sessions and meetings as called by the Camp Manager
Adhere to SaskAbilities' policies and camp staff team agreement
Complete other duties as requested by the Camp Manager

Qualifications:

Education:

Postsecondary educational background/experience in disability studies, recreation, health care, social work, education, or related programs
Disability Support Worker Certificate or education is considered a strong asset
Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C and Valid Class 5 Drivers' license

Experience:

Previous leadership and supervisory experience
Experience in program planning and evaluation is essential
Previous experience working or volunteering with persons experiencing disability
Previous experience doing personal care is an asset

Skills:

Must be a team player and demonstrated willingness to collaborate
Strong selfinitiative skills as well as problem solving and collaboration skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to handle multiple demands under pressure.
Ability to positively interact with campers of various ages experiencing disability, all staff and external contacts.
Maintain confidentially regarding staff and camper personal information
Must be able to meet the emotional and physical demands of the position and be able to manage lifting, pushing, standing, and carrying objects
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards
Eligible to work in Saskatchewan

Transportation to and from camp is the personal responsibility of staff. _
