We are currently searching for aMaintenance and Appliances Technician to join our team. This is a
full-time shift position.
Position Summary:
The Maintenance & Appliances Technician will be responsible for performing maintenance on all appliances and assisting with general building and property maintenance.
Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain appliances and equipment and support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

What You Bring to the Role:
- High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- A diploma or degree in power engineering, mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance or engineering considered an asset.
- Building trades certificate or equivalent is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License required.
- Clear criminal record check completed a maximum of three (3) months prior to the 'date of hire' required.
- Strong written and verbal English skills to effectively communicate with all residents, visitors and at all levels within the organization required.
- Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment.
- Knowledge and ability to work on electrical systems and equipment.
- Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership.
- Ability to perform small repairs (e.g. caulking, replacing washers, and replacing light fixtures).
- Strong communication and problem solving skills.
- Able to create alternative solutions to problems.
- Excellent time management and project management skills.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
- Basic knowledge of Yardi.
- Ability to work in an infectious disease outbreak environment and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
Your Responsibilities:

Inspects, repairs, and maintains all appliances, including, but not limited to washers, dryers, fridges, freezers, stoves, and dishwashers

Replace faulty components for each appliance, as needed
:

Refer to product manuals to repair parts as needed
:
- Inspects and cleans building and mechanical equipment, etc. for the purpose of ensuring that it is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs.
- Assists in the evaluation of equipment functions for the purpose of maintaining facilities.
- Maintains records for the purpose of providing an uptodate reference trail and/or complying with mandated requirements.
- Performs minor repairs to equipment and facilities for the purpose of maintaining facilities and equipment in safe operating condition.
- Responds to maintenance inquiries from staff and residents, particularly pertaining to appliances.
- Detects faulty operations, defective material and reports those and any unusual situations to senior maintenance.
- Completes all necessary reports and records related to the department as required.
- Prepare, clean and sand surfaces to be painted.
- Operates groundskeeping power equipment and maintain external property.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance checks of all electrical alarms.
- Troubleshoots, installs, and repairs plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
- Daily communication with Site Manager and Maintenance and Facilities Manager
- Troubleshooting, cleaning and small repairs for home/kitchen appliances.
- Engage in friendly, polite conversation with residents.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Work Conditions
- On call duties are required.
- Physically strenuous work.
- Must be able to lift up to 75lb frequently.
- Travel to the other sites will be required and offsite locations may be required.
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steeltoed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles
