Overview:


The primary objective of the Yard Supervisor is to responsible for the directing and coordinating activities of the yard workers along with coordinating the cleaning and housekeeping of the plant, the raw materials and fuels unloading and handling, in addition to the alternatives fuels equipment including the tires and rubber injection activities.

As well, the incumbent is responsible for championing improvement projects targeting those which will benefit the plant in terms of safety, efficiency, troubleshooting ability or working condition.

The yard supervisor completes these mandates in accordance with the safety, environmental, quality and quantity objective for the St-Constant plant to meet budgeted requirements and customer needs.


Responsibilities:


Safety:


  • Follows and ensures full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all contracts and project site meet the Lafarge safety policy requirements for our employee's safety.

Work Planning and Execution:


  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating the activities of the team and the yard contractor with the production, mechanical, electrical and new works departments during normal operation and during major turnarounds.
  • Provide support to the production and maintenance teams through coordination of improvement initiatives (identification through to implementation).
  • Assist with the supervision of refractory installation during major turnarounds or as needed.

Housekeeping:


  • Identify and assist in resolving chronic spill areas in the plant.
  • Benchmark cleanup activities and identify improvement in terms of safety, effectiveness and cost through means/methods.

Reporting:


  • Provide reporting to the Maintenance and Production Managers and feedback to the hourly team on jobs including consumption of materials, tools, man hours & skill.
  • Review equipment history files and ensure properly recorded histories in work order completions as the case may be.

Training, Development and Recruitment:


  • Responsible to recruit, develop and execute part of the newly recruited induction training and annual training plan for all hourly employees.

Leadership:


  • Responsible for the supervision, safety and development of shift personnel.
  • Ensure sufficient human resources is available to achieve daily plant operation.
  • Communicating all operational goals, objectives, and concerns to all production shift personnel.

Relationships with Others Jobs:


  • Reports to the Production Manager
  • Collaborate with the five (5) production shift supervisors.

Specific Accountabilities:


  • Personal safety, as well as the safety of direct reports.
  • Promotion and implementation of safe work practices and conditions.
  • Develop procedures of work execution when needed.
  • Held monthly safety meetings and that Plant Safety Rules and the Occupational Health & Safety Act are followed.
  • Ensure that the operations of the plant are carried out in conjunction with the present environmental regulations and that the supervisors are aware of all aspects of environmental law pertaining to the operation.
  • Promotion and insure proper training of hourly personnel
  • Achieving department KPI's (eg. Zero MI's, daily production, Shop RF/UF/PF, etc)
  • Optimization of plant equipment and process through modification and implementation of equipment procedures and training.
  • Maintain a positive and harmonious labour relations atmosphere.
  • Adherence to product quality standards.

Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience:
_**- College diploma in mechanical engineering or relevant field

  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience and experience in cement manufacturing experience or equivalent industries will be considered as a asset.
  • Knowledge of the cement technology and manufacturing process
  • Excellent leadership ability and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant and regional personnel.
