Job Summary


The Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) has a program of education and training to support the conduct of clinical trials nationally and internationally.

Reporting to the CCTG Director, working in partnership with the Director of Education, the Education and Training Leader (ETL) is a key resource in the leadership, development, and implementation of an effective training program designed to meet the needs of CCTG as an organization as well as broader CCTG network.

The ETL critically analyzes education and training needs, develops content required to ensure success, and oversees implementation to ensure delivery of an efficient and effective program.

This includes establishing delivery and performance metrics, identification of issues and course corrections required, as well as obtaining and reviewing feedback from program users.

The ETL will develop proposals, reports, presentations and briefing notes related to the program for the CCTG.


The ETL will work closely and collaboratively with the CCTG Operations and Statistics Centre (OSC) team, the CCTG network, and national and international partners to refine and further develop the CCTG Program to support needs now and in future.

The ETL will establish a process of evaluation to consider existing frameworks, current requirements, and needs specific to the CCTG.

Multiple approaches and platforms to optimize the training experience for users will be incorporated.

The ETL will demonstrate an understanding of key concepts and to assist clinical investigators and research staff to achieve competency in clinical trial oversight and conduct from conception to analysis and adoption of results through the development of interactive digital educational tools that cover traditional and merging areas of relevance to cancer trials.

The ETL will build relationships within CCTG as well the external network and plays a significant role in the CCTG effort to ensure progress in education and training initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Working in partnership with the CCTG Director and Director of Education, provides leadership and expertise in evaluating training and education needs of the organization and CCTG network, developing a CCTG Education Program framework, and overseeing implementation of the framework. This includes consultation with the CCTG OSC team and CCTG network to ensure the CCTG Education Program meets the needs of the research community. Develop an appropriate curriculum that is customized as needed per trainee group. Include didactic information and interactive case studies.
  • Determine evidence based best practices as well as innovative approaches within clinical trials education and training.
  • Project manages development and implementation of the program with regular reporting on progress to the CCTG Director and Director of Education. Ensures the CCTG Senior Leadership team and key CCTG network stakeholders are engaged and updated on progress at agreed timepoints.
  • Leads development and oversight of performance metrics for the CCTG Education Program.
  • Monitors and evaluates emerging issues in the clinical investigators and research staff to identify and assess opportunities and education developments, which are applicable to CCTG'S mandate; recommend projects and initiatives which address gaps between research and practice.
  • Manages assigned projects; proactively anticipate and resolve issues or delays and exercise judgement in bringing sensitive or challenging issues to the CCTG Director, Director Education and/or Senior Leadership Team.
  • Develops content and contributes to the strategic plan for education and training as well as annual operational plans. This includes identification, assessment, and implementation of mitigation strategies for key directions required for education and training.
  • Develops briefing notes, correspondence, reports, presentations, proposals, and other short and long term planning documents.
  • Demonstrate commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment, and contribute to a highperforming team that is respectful and collaborative.
  • Provides work direction, and technical/functional guidance to staff. Schedules and assigns work, and oversees its completion. Coordinates and monitors workflow.
  • Reviews assignments and provides feedback on work to employees. Provides input on work performance to management staff.
