    NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent leader for the position of Community College Instructor in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician Program.     This is a casual employment opportunity from April 2024 (with a possibility of extension).

    Qualifications

    What we are looking for:

    • Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyperson (Red Seal) in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
    • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.
    • Preference may be given to candidates who have a minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level.
    • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment in a blended delivery format.

    Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

    Responsibilities

    What you will be working on:

    You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Academic Chair of Building and Construction, and a member of the faculty team. You will be responsible for the planning and preparation of instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

    Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

    • Flow controls and Accessories
    • Air-conditioning
    • Refrigeration
    • Electrical
    • Blueprint Reading Fundamentals
    • Refrigerants and Oils
    • Specialty Tools and Equipment
    • Safety
    • Motors and Compressors
    • Valves and Piping
    • Installations
    • Trade-related Mathematics.

    The successful candidate will teach in all 4 blocks of the apprenticeship program.

    The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.
