Overview


Reporting to the Manager, Learner Academic Support, the Academic Support Specialist is a member of the Learner Academic Support team and supports academic functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Attend the weekly Learner Review Committee meeting and provide updates to the group on Learners' academic standing and attendance record assist in making informed decisions on their status as Robertson students
  • Maintain regular communication with assigned students on the Learner Review Committee and adhere to the processes and guidelines set forth by the committee
  • Identify and notify the Learner Review Committee of atrisk learners (attendance/academic record) ahead of weekly meetings
  • Facilitate student requests for additional academic support
  • Accurately maintain and manage Learners' records in the student information management system (Salesforce) and the student learning management System(SLMS)
  • Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of academic learning plans in accordance with established guidelines
  • Effectively communicate student feedback to internal and external departments
  • Interpret, oversee, and examine reports that pertain to academics and instructor duties, then escalate any concerns to the Manager
  • Conduct academic reviews to ensure readiness for practicum and graduation

Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities

  • Attend faculty/staff meetings and training sessions
  • Actively participate in performance appraisals
  • Encourage and support interdepartmental collaboration with other departments such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Practicum, and Career Services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in education or business required.
  • 2 years of direct experience in Higher Education/ Student Services is an asset.
  • Strong communication and customer services skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students and team members.
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fastpaced environment
  • Highly selfmotivated and selfdirected; objectiveoriented with highlevel attention to detail
  • Knowledge/experience with Learning Management Systems (D2L preferred) is an asset.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a team to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong computer and digital literacy skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, inclusive environment.
  • A clear criminal records check and child abuse registry check.

Work Location:
Hybrid remote


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
