- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment including playground equipment, building exterior, interior and landscape/parking lot
- Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of building systems
- Ability to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts on a variety of building systems and adjust if necessary (e.g. ventilation)
- Complete basic repairs and maintenance on building components and equipment
- Complete emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment, structures and grounds on the property
- Manage an inventory of equipment, tools and machinery as assigned
- Ability to complete assigned work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to plan and prioritize work for self and seek help when needed
- Move large quantities of furniture and equipment as assigned

- Report any near misses or accidents immediately to the Maintenance Supervisor
- Able to identify any hazards involved in the assigned task, detail the controls that must be put in place and articulates the specific practices to be followed to minimize the possibility of accidents and injury

The Parkland School Division currently has a TEMPORARY FULL TIME (1.0 FTE) position available at The Centre for Education in Stony Plain, AB. Temporary Positions are not eligible for benefits of leave entitlements.
Function and Purpose of Position
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Summer Student is responsible for performing tasks including installing, troubleshooting, repairing and general building, property and equipment maintenance. Medium to heavy physical demands with lifting is an essential part of the position as various skilled duties are performed. Working with tradespersons is required and essential to our team environment approach
