Your Opportunity:

The Service Worker I assists nursing staff in maintaining a hygienic, well-equipped and safe patient care environment.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

preparing and cleaning hemodialysis equipment for patient use, restocking all bedside supplies, transporting patients, blood specimens, charts and supplies as well as performing other duties as assigned.

This position is based in the West Edmonton Kidney Care Hemodialysis Unit.


Description:


As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site.

You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Must be able to lift a maximum of 40 lbs. several times a day. High Degree of motivation and good organizational skill required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous training or recent Service Worker experience in a hospital setting is desirable. Familiarity with hemodialysis equipment and supplies is an asset. Demonstrated good communication skills, able to read, write and speak English fluently. Demonstrated ability to work as a team, worker under supervision or independently.

Upon successful completion of the orientation, the service worker will be able to proceed to unit to start the buddy shifts as assigned by the hiring manager.
