Description

Pennecon Technical Services, Power Systems provides utility and industrial customer site electrical service support and consultation such as acceptance testing, commissioning, routine repair and maintenance of low, medium, and high voltage systems.


Position:
Power Systems Technician (Field Service)


Location:

Dartmouth, NS**The primary purpose of this position is to provide, at utility and industrial customer sites, electrical maintenance, and technical assistance in the areas of installation, startup, maintenance, repair, training and modification on power transmission, distribution and generation equipment and systems.


Within this position, duties will include the following:

  • Ability to work with a wide range of clients in a multitude of industry sectors, this is a daily customer facing position, professionalism is required;
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and testing of power generation and distribution equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, including electrical and mechanical faults, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to assist in the design and implementation of power system upgrades and expansions.
  • Monitor and analyze power system performance to identify potential problems and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations while working on power systems.
  • Mentoring, training, and coaching less experienced technicians as the situations arise;
  • Utmost respect and compliance for safety protocols at all times
  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology with a minimum of five (5) years of field experience, preferably in a customer facing environment
  • Proven experience as a Power Systems Technician or similar role, with a strong understanding of electrical principles and power distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of power system protection and control devices.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools, equipment, and software for troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with clients, colleagues, and vendors effectively.
  • Be able to write and produce technical reports such as Commissioning & Startup and Maintenance & Repairs Testing Summary as a minimum. Experience with Power System, ArcFlash, and Coordination studies would be a definite asset;
  • Experience with a handson mechanical background, power transformers, and general project management;
