Your opportunity:


The Office of the Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer provides financial expertise to senior leaders required to support the achievement of the Faculty's strategic goals and objectives.

Comprised of an accomplished team of strategic-minded specialists, the office serves as a hub between departments and the University's central financial portfolios, provides support, guidance and training to departments on financial matters, and oversees revenue sharing distributions.


As Financial Analyst, you will foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and leverage your analytical skills to synthesize information, uncover trends and deliver insights to optimize internal processes and improve decision making.

Your versatility will enable you to support a broad complement of financial activities, including payroll, billed salaries/salary recoveries and reporting to the Ministry.

Your ability to work independently and as part of a highly cohesive team will allow you take on new projects to ensure and promote optimal function of our office.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Overseeing the financial management of budgets, including strategic planning, forecasting and analysis
  • Performing complex financial data modeling and analysis, and producing complex statistical reports
  • Making recommendations on budget allocations involving multiple sources of revenue and recoveries
  • Processing payroll and financial transactions and reconciling payroll distribution and accounts
  • Monitoring, reconciling and reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts
  • Analyzing financial processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five years related financial experience in modeling, analysis and financial reporting, in a University or similar public sector environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management procedures, accounting principles and policies pertaining to funding agencies and academic institutions
  • Experience preparing budgets, financial reconciliations, forecasts and analysis
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, analyzing financial data and statistics and producing complex reports
  • Experience processing financial and payroll transactions
  • Experience monitoring, reconciling and reporting on research accounts
  • Experience in bringing innovative solutions and processes to create efficiencies in financial management
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including expert knowledge of MS Excel and Financial Information System (FIS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Highly attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and execute complex projects and manage conflicting priorities within established timelines
  • Ability to work independently as well as a collaborative team member in a multistakeholder environment
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, respect matters of a sensitive nature and maintain confidentiality

  • Completion of a recognized accounting program (CMA, CGA, CA)
