Job Description:

Duties for this position include, but do not limit to, the following:

  • Assist Machine Operator to feed the machines such as triple splice and X-bridging
  • Lifting and moving material with cranes as safely and efficiently as possible
  • Pushing carts and buggies to the line
  • Throughout the day, be ready to load and unload a variety of materials using the necessary equipment
  • Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and time management in the performance of daily duties
  • Comply with all legislated and company's health, safety, environmental, quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Ability to rig and secure chains to loads on and off of flatbed trailers, and climb up and down ladder steps to access trailers
  • May be trained to operate an overhead crane, forklift and shunt trucks
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Routinely able to lift chains up to 50 lb is also required
  • Ability to demonstrate punctuality and reliability
  • Demonstrates a strong focus on health and safety

Physical Demands:

The nature of this position also requires the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities, ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (50-70lbs), to sitting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling with repetitive hand and finger movements.

Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.


Work Environment:

The employee constantly works near moving electrical components and mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to welding fumes and airborne particles.

The employee may also be at risk of experiencing flash burns, skin burns, electrical shocks and high noise levels.

Personal Protective Equipment must always be worn (including, but not limited to:
CSA approved safety boots, safety eyewear, earplugs).
