In your role as the Distribution Training & Compliance Auditor, at The North West Company (NWC), you will provide Transportation Management Systems (TMS) compliance reporting to the NWC management teams focusing on improving accurate scan rates of inbound and outbound freight.

You will also be responsible for providing leadership training to employees at the Winnipeg Logistics Service Centre (WLSC).

Your Role:


  • Monitor and measure TMS processes of inbound crossed dock pallets received; with a focus on dangerous goods.
  • Create meeting agendas and lead biweekly conference calls ensuring alignment between various departments of NWC;
  • Assist in analysis of 3PL performance regarding daily operations, track/trace compliance and cold chain logs ensuring temperatures of sensitive freight is maintained during transit;
  • Provide support and assistance to the store connect team regarding track & trace assisting with quickly resolving store claims;
  • Provide 3PL coordination to facility supervisors ensuring NWC policies and processes are aligned;
  • Audit of prepped outbound freight and escalating discrepancies directly to department managers ensuring full compliance of TMS standard operating procedures;
  • Maintain Logistics hardware software functionality to align with distribution productivity targets
  • Monitor daily on hand reports, communicate leave behind inventory to stores providing visibility of freight that missed outbound departures due to trailer capacity restraints;
  • Train staff on power equipment used in the WLSC and maintain a facility equipment database ensuring all employees are certified to operate power machinery; and,
  • Accountable for training IATA and TDG certifications to Logistics and motorized staff that handle dangerous goods.

Desired Skills & Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalency required;
  • General understanding of warehouse functions and logistics;
  • Mid to advanced level of skill in the use of computer and office equipment and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; and Red Prairie, WMSL, Oracle would be considered an asset;
  • Ability to obtain Material Handling Equipment and Dangerous Goods certifications.
  • Leadership and conflict resolution skills desirable;
  • Exceptional problem solving, and decision making skills with the ability to adhere to strict deadlines; and,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
