Purpose:


The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and almost 100 programs delivered through 24 Departments, Schools and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham Learning Site.

Reporting to the Manager, Employer Engagement the Experiential Education Partnerships Coordinator role build and cultivate relationships with community organizations, employers, alumni and campus partners to enhance the number of experiential education and work-integrated learning opportunities available to students within the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies.

This includes providing outstanding service delivery to professionals across a range of settings, paying attention to marginality, diversity and inclusion.

A key focus for the position is to increase community, alumni and employer engagement in experiential education and learning programs within the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies to grow internship opportunities for students.

The role supports the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and York University, and contributes to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration and continuous improvement.

The role aligns work with the university's ongoing commitment to decolonization, equity, diversity and inclusion.


Education:


Relevant university degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks.

This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.


Experience:


Two (2) years of recent relevant experience in experiential education, career centre, co-op or recruitment setting, developing and maintaining relationships, including active outreach.

This role requires the incumbent to have experience coordinating effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders (including community, employers, alumni, students, staff and faculty).

  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong relationship cultivation, building and maintenance skills.
  • Efficient organizational, project management and time management skills to cope with multiple projects and events occurring within short and overlapping time periods.
  • Able to manage conflicting demands, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Written communication in the form of reports and submitting content for marketing materials. Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft 365, sourcing information and data using the Internet and social media sites such as LinkedIn.
  • Exposure to customized relationship management databases is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of trends in employer hiring practices, occupations, current labour market conditions and a general understanding of student and career development theories.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working as a team player. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility. Selfmotivated learner and demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse university student population and have a genuine desire to meet the needs of students.
  • Demonstrated record of professionalism, good attendance, punctuality and reliability.
