    Vacancy: QC Summer Student

    Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the QC students is expected to ensure quality and regulatory standards are met. Position will include covering lab duties to allow Quality Control Advisor to complete HACCP requirements (annual reassessments). This role requires daily sampling, participation in and knowledge of HACCP verification activities, record keeping, and participation in inspection procedures.

    OUTLINE OF DUTIES:

  • Testing samples from production within required timelines;
  • Collecting samples and carefully and accurately interpreting data and test results;
  • Accurately calibrating lab equipment, closely following calibration procedures;
  • Administrative duties;
  • Handling and shipping of powder composite samples for testing
  • Microbiological sampling of water and/or air for analysis
  • Packaging and shipping of samples to Central Lab
  • Participation in HACCP inspections (Good Manufacturing Practices, Housekeeping)
  • Inventory management
  • Lab cleaning tasks (keeping benches clean, autoclaving, cleaning coolers used for shipping)
  • All other duties, as assigned, and tasks as required for special projects

    • REQUIREMENTS

  • A strong commitment to occupational health and safety standards and procedures;
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practice is considered an asset;
  • Ability to follow precise procedures, self-motivated;
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work as a part of a team;
  • Strong computer proficiency is considered an asset;
  • Enrollment in a science related discipline
