Summary of responsibilities:


Supervises the daily operation of the payroll and accounts payable department ensuring timelines are met and the hospital meets statutory reporting requirements set out by the provincial and federal reporting agencies, such as CRA, WSIB, EHT, and HOOPP.


Requirements of the job:


  • Establish processes and procedures to ensure that payroll and vendor payments are processed in an accurate and timely manner and verifies and transmits biweekly payroll for employees.
  • Provides training for employees on accurate data input, and review of data to ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Reconciles and prepares month and year end reports in various formats to meet the specific reporting requirements of managers, senior team, various government agencies, and auditors.
  • Collaborates with the Manager to ensure that departments operate efficiently and professionally.
  • Conduct regular audit and analysis of data.
  • Application specialist of payroll systems managing access and security to payroll systems and ensuring that tables in these systems are updated or created reflecting changes in collective agreements, OHRS standards and any other reporting requirements and test the accuracy and integrity of the data
  • Acts as a resource to staff in the departments for policy development and implementation and provides education as needed.
  • Assists in developing policies through analysis of issues and researching current legislation and standards.
  • Responsible for various financial activities, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, yearend audit preparation, as well as other assigned duties.
  • Successful completion of a 3year Community College program in Accounting or Business
  • At least 3years of experience in Payroll and/or Finance
  • Certifies Payroll Manager (CPM) and MIS Level 1
