Media Director's Role


As our Media Director, you will lead a team of traditional and digital media planners, strategists and specialists to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.

As an experienced planner yourself, you will be hands-on planning and fulfilling strategies on behalf of our clients.

To be successful in this role you will LOVE to plan.

Like an engineer, when faced with a complex situation involving many factors, you enjoy managing all variables, aligning and realigning them until you are sure you have arranged them in the most effective way possible.


How you will spend your time

Leadership/Mentorship
- 25% of your time you will be doing this (and in all you do)

Media Planning - 40% of your time will be doing this
Manage media planning and strategy for select clients working closely with our Media Planners.

Negotiate rates with vendors.


Campaign Management - 15% of your time will be doing this


Work with your media team to actively monitor your campaigns, tracking performance metrics to make sure it is meeting the advertising objectives.

Ensure that media space/time is booked quickly and accurately.


Measure and Report - 20% of your time will be doing this
Assist in building post-analysis for major campaigns.

Prepare and present campaign reports, performance insights and recommendations.


Education


Diploma, certificate or degree in any of the following: Business administration OR communications OR marketing which will provide a great foundation for success in this role.

A combination of micro-learning and relevant experience is equal in our eyes.


Experience and why it's important
5+ years working as a media planner and buyer

2+ years working in a leadership role with direct reports


Be familiar with digital marketing platforms such as Google AdWords, Facebook Business Manager, Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager as this role will require daily use of these platforms.

Have a solid understanding of traditional media, its strengths and the tools to assist in planning. You will need to have strong negotiation skills.


Building relationships with
clients, by developing trust and mutual respect, plus having the knowledge to explain which marketing mix best reaches the desired audience.


Relationship building with
vendors and suppliers by treating them as equal partners in success, in turn gaining a level of respect that results in suppliers wanting to find ways to exceed your expectations.


Relationship building with your
coworkers, in the office or remote, a mutual admiration for what each person brings to their role.
