Reporting to the Administrator (or designate) the ADOC is a hybrid role: combining nursing excellence with dementia-specific behavioral experience.

Queens Village Residence provides the structure, care, and services to support Residents so they can be as cognitively and physically independent and active, as possible, through the progression of their dementia.

The ADOC, is responsible for developing and supervising care plans for all residents; leading a team of Personal Support Workers and Nurses; providing continuous and emergency health and personal care to Residents living in our home and ensure clinical compliance with all regulatory bodies.

  • Nursing and PSW create capacity through hiring, education, dementia and related training requirements, accountability, coaching and development of team
  • Clinical practice including:
  • Leading interdisciplinary Resident care planning
  • Consensus and trust and communications with POA and family

Primary Responsibilities:
Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the overall nursing program for residents within the home:

  • Be the leadership contact for all families and POAs for Residents of Queens Village, specific to the care of their Person
  • Oversee and prepare Care Plans for all residents in compliance with required timing as per the RHRA
  • Implement, monitor and audit safekeeping of drugs and narcotics and supervise the drug administration program
  • Build, train, coach and develop a cohesive care team
  • Monitor and review resident care staff compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Implement and update clinical policy and procedures
  • Comply with all relevant Provincial and Federal Acts and Regulations, i.e. Retirement Homes Act, Health Disciplines Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, College of Nurses Standards, Regulated Health Profession Act, and other applicable Provincial/National legislation
  • Assists the Administrator with budget preparation and implementation for the Nursing Department and Queens Village as required
  • Coordinate and monitor the Infection Control Program for the Personal Care Department
  • Coordinate resident care needs with existing external care providers (eg, LHIN, pharmacy, footcare, vision, physio, TENA etc)

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience working as a Nurse in the longterm care sector and/or retirement living
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working as a Nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting
  • Minimum 2years serving population with dementia and seniors, demonstrated experience, strategies and interventions for people with dementia
  • Current registration as a Nurse with the applicable Provincial license body is required
  • Current C.P.R. designation, GPA certification and Food Handlers certification required
  • Ideally PIECES and/or Montessori for dementia certification
  • Must have a clean, valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
Reporting and the Compensation Package

  • Reports to: Administrator, Queens Village
  • Direct Reports: all nurses, PSW/HCWs = 24 staff team, when the home is full occupancy
  • Profit and Loss responsibility for nursing department
  • Physical demands: sitting for long periods, standing, indoors, residentcare support
  • Travel: <10%
  • Pension and Benefits: as per the Queens Village package
  • Hours of work and on call: to be a part of the regular rotation for oncall, for the home

Pay:
$30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
