ABOUT THE POSITION


Reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Project Controller is responsible for maintaining budgets, costs, scheduling, and ensuring all tasks related to the project finances are identified and resources are estimated accurately.

The Project Controller provides support to owner's project teams, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to analyze, manage, and forecast costs to assist in the planning and financial performance of the project.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director, Engineering duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the financial functioning of the project;
  • Prepare or coordinate the preparation of cost centers financial statements, summaries, and other costbenefit analyses and financial management reports;
  • Notify the senior project management any concerning trends that are critical to the projects financial performance;
  • Manage quality and design performance targets, schedule planning, and financial performance;
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Finance, Permitting and Environmental, Exploration, and other project teams as required;
  • Develop and maintain key external relationships with consultants, EPC contractors, and external stakeholders;
  • Analyze and forecast project costs, and develop, prepare, collect, and analyze schedule and cost data on a weekly and monthly basis to assist the management of the project preparation of weekly and monthly reports;
  • Review contractor, vendor, and consultant invoices for capital projects;
  • Ensure all project tasks are identified and resources are estimated properly;
  • Prepare schedule and assist in monitoring and controlling; and
  • Assist in change management process and assist in developing recovering plan.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in project or cost accounting role. Preference given to those with experience in the mining and/or heavy construction industry;
  • Bachelor of Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce or Finance;
  • Familiarity with engineering controls, cost control, accounts payable/receivable, project planning/scheduling, project reporting, construction management, capital projects, and document control; and
  • Advanced computer literacy skills with Microsoft office products.
