QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an accredited Laboratory Assistant Program.
  • Certification as Medical Laboratory Assistant with the Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (Formerly Ontario Society of Medical Technologists) or the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Recent related clinical experience as a medical laboratory assistant in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in phlebotomy techniques for patients/clients of all ages.
  • Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and interdisciplinary practice.
  • Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service.
  • Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of computers, Laboratory Information Systems and other related Hospital systems.
  • Consistent and regular attendance required.
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
