    Job Description

    ADGA is hiring Senior SATCOM Capability Sustainment Engineer with a secret clearance to work on-site in Ottawa providing options and recommendations related to Polar Epsilon 1 and 2.

    The Polar Epsilon (PE) 1 and 2 systems deliver Ship Detection Reports from Space-Based Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR) data, Automatic Identification System (AIS) data and the association of the two to the Recognized Maritime Picture (RMP), as well as delivering Image Products to authorized Product Recipients.

    The PE Systems support domestic and global operations, including those in the Arctic, as well as deployed land and maritime operations. PE capabilities deliver a transformative global maritime domain awareness capability to Canada and in support of our allies.

    The Senior SATCOM Capability Sustainment Engineer will be required to perform the following tasks:

    • Conduct integrated logistic support (ILS) and in-service support (ISS) tasks for the management of material already in service;
    • Produce SOWs and item descriptions for sustainment tasking requirements;
    • Review in-service support contract deliverables and provide review feedback;
    • Provide engineering support to the Life Cycle Material Manager for capability sustainment and resolve system failures and problems to minimize downtime and loss of data;
    • Liaise with system stakeholders, as required, to ensure effective communications;
    • Participate in Configuration Control Board activities and provide engineering advice on complex engineering and technical issues to management;
    • Create presentations and brief stakeholders and management on plans, issues, and risks regarding capability sustainment;
    • Conduct risk analysis related to capability sustainment including system modification, refresh and/or upgrade activities and provide input to the TA;
    • Perform reviews and analyses of system change proposals, and provide recommendations on changes to the systems, antenna, infrastructure and sub-system interfaces;
    • Provide technical expertise in the analysis of system deficiencies and recommending cost-effective solutions;
    • Perform and witness system integration testing and evaluation;
    • Provide input in support of project implementation phases from the perspective of capability sustainment;

    The generic deliverables for the Senior SATCOM Capability Sustainment Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Document capturing review and research of technical issues related to capability sustainment including system changes;
    • Document capturing review and research of technical issues related to PE system engineering documents;
    • Document capturing review comments, analysis and issues related to procurement and contractual documents;
    • Specific reports, minutes, records of decisions, presentations or spreadsheets related to PE systems;
    • Analysis and recommendations on PE systems communication, interface and systems requirements;
    • Monthly progress reports; and
    • Trip reports when applicable.
    Qualifications

    TheSenior SATCOM Capability Sustainment Engineer Must meet the following or exceed the following requirements:

    • An Engineering or Science degree from a recognized Canadian University or a non-Canadian University that has been accredited in Canada;Or

      A diploma or certificate, minimum 2 years from a recognized college in an Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) field;OR

      A Professional Engineer License by any Professional Engineering self-regulatory body within the provinces of Canada.

    • A minimum of 10 years of experience within the last 20years as a Satellite Communication Specialist.
    • A minimum of 5years of experience within the last 10years writing Technical Documentation (e.g. Statement of Work, analysis report, technical specifications) for IM/IT projects valued at $5M or more.
    • A minimum of 5years of experience within the last 20years performing engineering design, test or analysis of Satellite systems design and development.
    • A minimum of 5years of experience within the last 10years performing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) or In-Service Support (ISS) planning and management.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience within the last 10years in at least 1of the following:
      • performing verification and validation testing on satellite communication space and ground systems for availability, reliability, maintainability, supportability and cost-effectiveness; or
      • configuration management of a satellite system.
